The Four Welsh Rugby Regions have welcomed today’s announcement that Guinness will sponsor their professional club competition in 2014/15 – which will now be named the Guinness PRO12.

With some exciting fixtures to kick off the season, the first weekend will see the Regions take on two Italian sides and two Irish provinces, with the Scarlets hosting Ulster at Parc y Scarlets, Newport Gwent Dragons away to Connacht, the Ospreys hosting Treviso and the Cardiff Blues away to Zebre.

And loyal regional rugby supporters will not have to wait long for the first big Welsh derby of the 2014/15 competition with the Ospreys coming to Rodney Parade mid September.

Mark Davies, Acting Chief Executive of Regional Rugby Wales (RRW) said: “The confirmation of Guinness as title sponsor is a real testimony to the sheer commercial value of the intensity and quality of rugby we have in the PRO12 as is one of the most competitive cross border leagues in the World.

“The rugby heritage of the Guinness brand is profound and its active involvement across all four countries will undoubtedly add excitement and stature to the Pro12 league and we look forward to welcoming our new sponsors warmly to Wales and everything that Welsh Regional Rugby stands for.”
